America in 2024

By Darryl Weng

Youngkin’s victory in Virginia sends a message to the nation that a great political shift and awakening are to happen. As Biden’s approval ratings drop substantially and the progressives resort to even more radical agendas, Americans become reminiscent of the conservative and effective policies of GOP lawmakers. It’s no surprise as to why McAuliffe tried his best to keep a distance with Biden during his campaign. Despite McAuliffe’s efforts, Youngkin was favored by an overwhelming majority of counties across Virginia, shown by recent statistics from the National Public Radio(NPR). With the final results in, NPR reports that Youngkin is ahead with 50.9% of the votes[1]. It seems, with the current standings, that the moderates have put their trust in the GOP, rather than the progressives.

The Virginian gubernatorial election is only a trifle compared to what America’s presidential election in 2024 may seem like. With moderates turning heads and progressives losing credibility by the seconds, it seems that the GOP will make a decisive comeback after the disastrous Jan. 6 Capitol Riot(not many know what truly happened, but everyone knows how infamous the event was).

The idea that the GOP is to make a comeback in 2024 is supported through policies that have emerged after educational, economical, and social crises. After controversial education subjects like CRT or inappropriate sexual education for young children, the shift in support by moderates from progressives to conservatives seems quite obvious. After all, policies that affect schools, where American parents place immense trust, greatly matter the most to many American families. Months ago, the infamous Loudoun County parents made quite a loud scene over complaining to the school board on the CRT curriculum, resulting in nationwide attention. Although progressives and the school board have shut down complaints, the actions they have taken have resulted in great repercussions. Besides conservative outlets and papers flaming the school board and the entire CRT movement instigated by the progressives, parents, especially those of certain wealth and high tax payers, do not contend with having schools incite inappropriate curriculums when swaths of their own paychecks are supporting such schools.

While the wealthy may regard taxes to be of little importance, middle-class Americans, especially families, are not too enthralled with the idea of increasing taxes by an incomprehensible amount. It is true that, historically, Americans favor conservative economic policies. Even McAuliffe himself was pressured into sending voters a no-new-tax promise. Restricted by his party’s policies, McAuliffe still stayed away from promising decreased taxes, leaving Youngkin another victory for conservative policies. If the progressives wish to improve their image, they must take on economic policies similar to those of the GOP. Since the radicalization of the Democratic Party, it is unlikely that the progressives will ever follow in the footsteps of GOP conservative economic policies. Since the progressives have foolishly solidified their position in the economic policy debate, Americans have all the more reason to give their undying support for the GOP.

But of all crises, the social crisis has brought people of different races, ethnicities, gender, and sexuality to slowly transition into realization that the progressives no longer serve their need to a higher extent than the conservatives. The social crisis has unfolded into the cracks of the American education system and instigated politics into social movements like Black Lives Matter(BLM) and the LGBTQ+ movement. Thanks to the progressives, the social crisis placed the Democratic Party further left due to the support of the radical critical race theory, defunding of the police through BLM, and gender notions that have opposed both the science industry and many religions.

Unaware of a fragile minded population of politically moderate Americans, the progressives pushed radical policies without foreseeing the consequences. By attacking moderate and apolitical communities, the progressives have welcomed more political enemies and gifted the GOP an unprecedented victory.
